TRADER TRANSITS

Venus conjunct Jupiter

As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon), and our Planet Power – Venus blog, dated 7-20-24, the planet Venus plays a major role in the financial astrology arena. Venus symbolizes love and money, and its upcoming ingress into the sign of Cancer (representing the 4th house of the zodiac and ruled by the Moon), associates with the “home” and emotional attachment.

Venus will conjunct (meet) the planet Jupiter (the Great Benefic), in the sign of Cancer from August 11th – 12th this year, in about 1 week. Venus in Cancer (as noted in our recent Trader Transits – Venus in Cancer blog, dated 7-21-25) signifies an increase in positive sentiment towards, one’s home, family, and money, the latter of which needs to be controlled regarding spending and investments, while the planet Jupiter (also transiting Cancer), expands related energies, and associates with abundance and luck.

This transit is considered to be favorable for financial gain, opportunity, and wealth accumulation, though one must be cautious. It is very important to keep one’s emotions from overflowing, and be to avoid impulse actions related to the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and/or “falling in love” with a stock or investment (also discussed in our publication). Stay disciplined and be sure to follow your strategy and rules, despite the urge to “hit it big.” This transit comes during the time of year when equity markets tend to become over-extended in Cancer season (ended recently) which has become the 2nd most lucrative season of the year over the past couple of decades. Volatility usually takes over come August, and Leo season, which has settled in. New long-term investments are likely to be shaky for the time being, although this transit could spark some very positive days. The current Mercury Retrograde period (when markets also tend to be very volatile) will end on the same date, August 11. Be ready to take profits and do not rush into any investment at cycle or all-time highs. The same applies to any real estate transactions, with Cancer’s symbolism of the home.

The previous Venus/Jupiter conjunction last occurred on May 23 in 2024, in the sign of Taurus, when equities saw solid gains 2-3 days after the event. Every year is different, of course, however, traders may be able to position themselves for short gains around this transit.

As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before the actual date of an event, and for a period after. As we also noted in our 7-20-24 blog, Venus (and Mercury) are associated more with swing-trading than longer-term investing, as they quickly move through signs. Venus has also been forming squares with both Neptune (mystery, confusion) and Saturn (challenge and restriction), which are both in retrograde as well, also suggesting caution.

The general belief among financial astrologers is that the combination of these Venus signifiers will likely bring back some volatility in the equity markets. The markets may cool in some categories like Stock Market Momentum and Breadth, (which measures the number of stocks advancing vs the number of stocks declining) in the S&P 500. For quite some time the market has been carried by stocks known as the “Magnificent Seven,” though they have broadened in recent weeks. Sectors to focus on during this period continue to be real estate, commodities, cryptocurrency, and bonds, should expected interest rate cuts begin in the Fall. Cryptocurrencies are of special interest during this time frame. Look for a potential “breakout,” should current technical resistance lines be breached.
