SIGN LANGUAGE
Libra
As discussed in Chapter 4 of our publication, “When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology”(available on Amazon), and our Sign Language – Introduction blog dated 3-24-24, the zodiacal signs are part of every individual and business birth charts, based on date and time of birth, incorporation, or first public trade date on an equity index.
As documented, the general/mundane zodiac begins with the sign of Aries (as the 1st house), then moves counter-clockwise around the zodiac wheel, until reaching the 12th house, completing the cycle. Also noted is the fact that the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th are the financially focused houses, though others can have minor influences.
Today’s focus is the sign of Libra, which resides in the 7th house of the zodiac (based on the Aries Rising chart). Libra is an air, cardinal, male sign, ruled by the planet Venus. This sign represents balance, charm, and kindness, but also indecisiveness. Libra is a sociable and peaceful themed sign, symbolized by the Scales of Justice. Whenever a specific sign “season” occurs (when the Sun is traveling through that sign), the Sun shines its energies and brings it to the forefront, and Libra “season” runs from September 23 through October 22, in 2025.
Although the 7th house is not normally financially based, it does represent contracts and “partnerships,” which can affect the inner workings and decision making within a company, including mergers and acquisitions. The associated Libra energies also include frivolousness and indecision, that can add to the volatility of companies’ future outlooks. This Libra season includes some interesting planetary aspects, including the Mars in Scorpio transit, beginning on the very first day of this season, and remaining throughout. Please review our Trader Transits – Mars in Scorpio blog, coming early next week.
The energies of the Uranus retrograde, located in the latter stages of Taurus (money), which began on September 2nd, and will not end until January 30, 2025 (ending in Aquarius), will also be present and potentially affect several signs. Uranus is known as the great “disruptor” so watch for additional violent market swings as Libra season approaches and commences.
The planet Venus (which represents money, fashion, and love) will also enter the sign of Libra (its “home” sign), about 1 week prior to the end of this “season”, on September 19. Venus in Libra can be quite different than when it transits Taurus (its other “home” sign), as Taurus is a grounded earth sign, while Libra is a scattered air sign. Consumer spending/retail stocks normally get a boost during this transit, but may not be as prevalent this time around, as earnings reports are indicating. It should also be noted that the South Node of the Moon (signifying the past) is currently stationed in Libra as well, until February of 2025, which is restrictive relating to the equity markets.
September (the worst performing month for stocks on average) has historically resulted in weakness in the markets (with the exception of last year). Each year can be slightly different, of course, depending on macro events and other planetary transits/aspects (discussed above). The indecisive energies may lead to a non-directional market for a few weeks, though the strictness of Virgo season has been eased, and Libra is more forgiving. Last year’s Libra season ended with a slight decline of 2%, though it followed the unusual gain in the month of September. Keeping position sizes lower than normal is suggested, especially to offset the Mars in Scorpio “full-speed ahead” energies. Preserving some capital for better entry prices is advisable, should markets continue to breakdown and correct further.
Some sectors to watch for this Libra season as the Sun, South Node, and Mercury, will occupy the sign (as mentioned, Venus will move out on the first day of Libra season), include transportation (airlines, deliveries), retail/consumer discretionary (luxuries and fashion), and energy. Real Estate, which has been improving lately, may be an under-the-radar sector to focus on with Jupiter in Cancer (representing the home), as well as positive energies continuing for silver. Taking some profits and holding cash for future opportunities continue to be a consideration for the time being. Hedging your positions with inverse ETF’s may also be beneficial in the short term. Remember to perform your due diligence regarding trades and investments during this “season.”
Finally, all birth/natal charts are unique, and every individual (or business) possesses its own set of planetary and sign positions in each house.
