Saturn conjunct Neptune
As covered in our publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon), and our Planet Power – Saturn, blog, dated 6-1-24, the planet Saturn signifies structure, restriction rules/laws, limitations, and hard work, and in the business world, represents institutions, banking, and real estate. Saturn urges a disciplined, realistic, and “proceed with care” approach to life, including financial endeavors. Saturn also represents the industrial and infrastructure sectors of the financial markets, as well as challenges and loss.
Neptune, on the other hand (as discussed in our Planet Power – Neptune blog, dated 6-9-24), possesses traits including dreams, imagination, spirituality, illusion, deception, mystery, confusion, crime, creativeness, and drugs/alcohol. Things are not always clear in the mind with Neptune influences. In the financial world, it represents company mergers, debt, oil, and inflation, as well as re-organization. Sectors symbolized by this planet include energy (oil & gas), water, performing arts/music, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals.
Together with the North Node (associated with the business cycle) over the past year, these two planets have been traveling through the sign of Pisces together, in close proximity. During this time frame, economic data reports from the government (Saturn) have been very deceptive (Neptune/Pisces), and are often later revised when much less attention is being paid (as we consistently note in our blogs). The equities markets also often react immediately to certain economic reports, including job market numbers, creating a whipsaw effect in price action and heightened volatility.
As discussed in many previous blogs, including our Saturn in Aries blog, dated 5-8-25, the sign of Aries represents new beginnings, aggression, and “act before you think” energies. The Saturn restrictive forces will likely “ground” some of that energy, to essentially make Aries more “responsible,” potentially slowing down the recent stock market rally, but not necessarily eliminating it. Speculative sector stocks generally slow down, and are replaced by industrials, real estate, and mining, as well as those with strong fundamentals. The addition of Neptune to the equation, however, lends to increased inflationary concerns, and continued mystery and delusion with respect to the economy. Hopefully other factors, including Uranus ingress to Gemini, will not create more violent price moves, especially in the technology sector.
As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before and after the actual date of the event. The upcoming Saturn – Neptune conjunction occurs on Friday, February 20, 2026, and has an orb of a least a few days on either side, as these are both slow moving entities. This occasion is also very rare, as they conjunct shortly after both enter the sign of Aries (the 1st house of the zodiac) at 0 degrees. Much has been made of this aspect by many, including famous financial astrologer, Ray Merriman, who has coined the event the Aries Vortex.
Previous Saturn-Neptune conjunctions, which occur only about every 36 years, have resulted in major historical events including the major oil spill associated with the Exxon Valdez tanker in Alaska, the fall of the Berlin Wall (in 1989), the Great Smog of England, the development of both the first atom and hydrogen bombs, and the implosion of ruler Joseph Stalin’s Russia (1952-53). America’s entry into World War 1, the Russian Revolution (1917), and the first significant U.S. immigration restriction law, known as the Chinese Exclusion Act (1882), also occurred during this conjunction.
The fact that this conjunction begins at the very first degree of the 1st sign (Aries) of the zodiac (new beginnings), creates a combination of an aggressive but uncertain approach to the changing financial landscape, symbolized by Pluto in Aquarius.
The general belief among financial astrologers is that this period should be met with caution and tight risk management, with no “illusions of grandeur” in these volatile times. Keeping share sizes small until volatility subsides is important, especially when attempting to “buy the dip” as high-flying stocks appear to be “on sale.” They can always go lower in the short term, and there will be a “safer” time in the future.
