PLANET POWER
Pluto
In this installment of “Planet Power,” we will discuss the planet Pluto, known as the most powerful planet in the universe, covered in Chapter 4 of our new publication “When to Buy and When to Sell;” Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon).
Pluto is the furthest planet from the Sun, and takes the longest timeframe of all the planets to revolve around the sun and through the zodiac - about 248 years. This divides into slightly over 20 years, on average, that the planet is positioned in each sign. Due to the extended length of stay in a sign, Pluto has very strong generational energies that persist, and tends to represent major societal change with each transit into a new sign.
Some of the main traits and energies (including financial) attributed to Pluto include; destruction, transformation, rebuilding, power, money/debt, and control.
Recently, beginning on March 23, 2023, Pluto has begun its transition from the sign of Capricorn to the sign of Aquarius, which constitute very different energies. However, during this transition, which lasts from March 23, 2023 through November 19, 2024, Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn on two separate occasions, ultimately ending on November 19, 2024, when Pluto remains in Aquarius for about 20 years.
Capricorn (ruled by the planet Saturn) represents government, secrecy, corruption, institutions, restrictions, and banking in the financial world.
Aquarius (ruled by Saturn and Uranus) represents the people, a change (sometimes very sudden) in public mindset, resistance to government controls, a possible time when hidden truths come to light, and possible rebellion. In the financial world it symbolizes technological advance, which currently includes AI, electric vehicles, alternative energy, and now digital currency.
Hence, the current increasing battle that has developed between authority and the populace is not surprising and has a long history. Significant events that have occurred while Pluto was positioned in Capricorn (1762-1778 and 2008-2023/24) include the British Invasion, the rise of King George III, and Louis XVI, as well as the more recent global banking crisis/recession.
Pluto’s transition into Aquarius has resulted in the American and French Revolutions, the U.S. Declaration of Independence, the creation of the Constitution, the Industrial Revolution, and the end of slavery in Britain - essentially the “rising of the people.”
Financial astrologers commonly believe that the above noted sectors will continue to flourish, although there will be some bumps along the way.
