Venus in Scorpio
As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (now available on Amazon), and our recent Planet Power – Venus, blog, dated 7-20-24, the planet Venus plays a major role in the financial astrology arena. Venus symbolizes money, and its upcoming ingress into the sign of Scorpio (representing the 8th house of the zodiac), is one of the financially focused houses/signs, specifically “other people’s money,” which fits the investment theme.
Venus will end its transit through Libra this coming Thursday, September 10, and move into the sign of Scorpio through October 25, 2026. Venus in Libra signifies balance, partnerships, negotiations, harmony and fairness, while Scorpio energies are more aggressive, sharp, strategic, and unforgiving. Traders and investor’s need to steer clear of over-aggressiveness with these energies.
The last Venus/Scorpio ingress occurred from November 6th – 30th in 2025, beginning in Scorpio and ending in Sagittarius. The market experienced solid gains of 4.6% in the S&P 500 during this transit, as it occurred during a seasonally strong period in a non-election year.
The Venus/Scorpio ingress in late July of 2023, when a Venus retrograde period coincided with the transit, resulted in a sizeable and lengthy dip in the S&P 500, as it often does. This year is very challenging again as Venus Retrograde interrupts the transit, beginning October 3rd, and lasting through the Mid-term elections, ending on November 14. The market os sure to be volatile throughout this period.
As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before the actual date of the event, and for a period after. As we also noted in our 7-20-24 blog, Venus (and Mercury) are associated more with swing-trading than longer-term investing, as they quickly move through signs. Venus will also be forming additional aspects, including a square with the planet Pluto, suggesting more disruption.
The general belief among financial astrologers is that the combination of these Venus signifiers will continue the short term back and forth price action in the equity markets. The markets may fluctuate heavily this Fall, and keeping cash available for drawdown opportunities may be wise.
Sectors to focus on during this period continue to be commodities, energy, cryptocurrency, and bonds (negative), should expected interest rate cuts begin. National debt (all-time high) and Bond yields (19-year high), both signified by Scorpio, are very sensitive in current economic conditions, and a rate hike by the Federal Reserve is on the table for later this month. None of these factors are a positive for the markets.
