PLANET POWER
Uranus Retrograde
As covered in our publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (available on Amazon), and our Planet Power – Uranus, blog, dated 4-6-24, and last year’s blog by the same title, on 8-27-25, the planet Uranus plays a significant role in the financial astrology arena.
Uranus “rules” the sign of Aquarius, which is the 11th house of the zodiac, one of the financially focused houses. This planet is known as the “Great Disruptor” representing sudden, unexpected events, and radical change, and normally results in many break-outs and/or reversals. Some of the main traits and energies (including financial) attributed to Uranus include; high intelligence, imagination, knowledge, and futuristic technology.
Uranus entered the sign of Gemini a little over a year ago, on July 7, 2025, (please review our Planet Power – Uranus in Gemini blog, dated 6-12-25, for more details), where it will remain until 2033. In that blog we indicated that the ingress would likely coincide with another market rally, before potentially giving way to negative economic conditions. The market promptly gained on 14 of the following 18 sessions, with little resistance, docking a 4.3% gain for the remainder of July. An immediate reversal then followed, as the gains were fully erased by August 24.
Uranus will turn retrograde in one week, on September 10, 2026, lasting until February 4, 2027. The history of this planet’s retrograde period mainly focuses on the sudden, unexpected surges in price action, in both directions (a signifier of Gemini).
This planet last experienced a retrograde period from early September, 2025, through February 3, 2026. In that instance, Uranus re-visited the sign of Taurus (from November 7 through April 25, 2026), before re-entering Gemini, where it remains for another 6 years. Its transit through the sign of Taurus was very beneficial, covering most of the recent bull run. On the whole, the S&P 500 gained 436 points, or 6.7%, a solid move despite to the upside. It was not void of volatility, however (good for day traders), as there were 24 sessions where this index moved over 50 points (13 to the upside, 11 to the downside).
The previous Uranus retrograde period, which began in early September of 2024, and ended in late January, 2025, also resulted in many “disruptive” days, including a massive drop on the very first day, and again on January 27, just a few days before its end, despite the markets continuing to reach All-Time Highs throughout the whole period. This planet tends to affect the technology sector (signified by Uranus), and traders should pay close attention to that sector and prepare for volatility.
Additionally, in our Planet Power - Uranus Direct blog, dated 1-28-25, we noted that its financial alignment with Aquarius, also an air sign, is associated with free thinking, futuristic technology, and digital money. Although the markets are generally strong in the last 2-3 months of the year, we should again expect some major disruptive reversal days lasting through the first month or two of 2027.
With Uranus in Gemini, combined with Pluto in Aquarius (lasting another 19-20 years), we can expect the continued advancement in sectors including AI, robotics, and quantum computing, as we note in our weekly Fear & Greed Index blog.
As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before and after the actual date of the event. As we also noted in our 7-20-24 blog, Venus and Mercury are associated more with swing-trading than longer-term investing, as they quickly move through signs. During this Uranus retrograde, both will also experience retrograde periods (Mercury from October 24 – November 13 and Venus from October 3 – November 14), which may derail any rallies, as the history of these retrogrades is not favorable for markets. They may also spur a major reversal rally, mid-way through November, as they both end at essentially the same time, which undoubtedly will result in high volatility. Please review our upcoming blogs regarding both of these retrogrades.
Another factor in the current economic conditions is the impending “mid-term” elections, generally the main reason markets post their weakest performance in Year 2 of Presidential Cycles, which makes investors/traders nervous, igniting another likely bout of volatility.
The general belief among financial astrologers is that there may be trouble brewing this Fall, with Venus also turning retrograde on October 3rd, and Mercury turning retrograde on October 24, both in the sign of Scorpio, as this period will be difficult to navigate regarding intermediate term investing. Uranus rarely fails to deliver, and this retrograde period is sure to provide some twists, turns, breakouts (or breakdowns) and sudden surges in either direction.
