TRADER TRANSITS

Jupiter in Leo

As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (now available on Amazon), Jupiter plays a major role in the financial arena in astrology, symbolizing expansion, abundance, and sometimes outright luck, but also exacerbating the negative on occasion. Please review our Planet Power – Jupiter Effect blog, dated 3-27-25, and Trader Transits – Jupiter Transits blog, dated 8-1-24 for more details.

Jupiter is the largest planet in our universe, changes zodiac signs approximately once every 12-13 months, and takes about 12-14 years to complete one rotation around the sun. This divides to slightly over 1 year, on average, positioned in each zodiac sign. This planet is known as the “Great Benefic,” and tends to represent societal change with each transit into a new sign.

Some of the main traits and energies (including financial) attributed to Jupiter include; expansion, fortune, growth, and even luck. There is also the concept of the “Jupiter Effect,” a belief that the planet provides gains for sectors related to the sign in which is inhabits. Please see our Planet Power – The Jupiter Effect blog, dated 3-27-24, for more details.

Jupiter, has been positioned in the sign of Cancer (4th house of the zodiac, representing the home, protection, and emotions), which is ruled by the Moon – for a little over a year. While in this sign, expected gains in silver developed, as the metal reached all-time highs in early 2026. At the same time, however, the planets Saturn (restriction and challenge) and Neptune (mystery and uncertainty) were present in the sign of Pisces (at times in retrograde) forming a challenging square aspect with Jupiter, which resulted in high volatility and unstable markets in the last few months of the transit. Real estate/home related stocks initially surged during the transit, but were negated by the military conflict’s effect on interest rates, that were not favorable. These stocks have started to rise once again as the transit comes to a close.

Jupiter will end its stay in Cancer on June 30, 2026, and will move into the sign of Leo (5th house of the zodiac, a financially-based house representing creativity, investments, and fun), which is ruled by the Sun. Sectors to focus on during this period include gold, creativity-themed stocks reflecting art & entertainment, and self-related industries including Consumer Discretionary, and travel, with the planet Venus in Leo during the first week of this transit. Leo season, which runs from the 3rd week of July through the 3rd week of August, is seasonally a time when July/Cancer season’s strength in weakens.

A recent square aspect with Saturn and Neptune will also be revisited during the summer, likely placing some restrictions on the financial markets. These energies may again create friction, like a tug of war, and indecision, with consistent swings in price action, so beware this likelihood of uncertainty over the next few weeks. The general belief among financial astrologers is that markets will be tame for a while, as the South Node also moves into Leo, another known time of slower business/economy, in late July.

As noted, Gold may also be in a favorable position as Leo is “ruled” by the Sun, which also “rules” that metal. Jupiter, as noted, generally expands energies and signifies good fortune, and the recent pullback is likely a favorable buying opportunity. A weakening dollar, which often occurs during economic downturn, would suggest an increase in this metal. Keep an eye on the Gold to Silver ratio (which we discuss in our weekly Fear & Greed Index update) for good entry points.

Previous Jupiter in Leo periods coincided with the Gulf and Iraq wars, as egos swell and result in military action. Together with the same types of energies of Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, the global military conflict atmosphere is likely to continue, as compromise is not a trait of these transits

Jupiter in Leo is not historically the most favorable time for equity markets, which are more vulnerable to risk taking and over-confidence. The stock market performance of this transit has a history of ups and downs, usually leaning toward bearish sentiment. On the last occasion, from July 14, 2014, through August 11, 2015, the S&P 500 only gained 120 points from beginning to end (almost 13 months).

Be cautious of becoming too confident or optimistic with trades and investments, as Jupiter in Leo can expand those traits, causing larger losses than usual. Always follow your rules and risk management guidelines.
