PLANET POWER
Uranus in Gemini
As covered in our recent publication, When to Buy and When to Sell: Combining Easy Indicators, Charts, and Financial Astrology (now available on Amazon), and our Planet Power – Uranus, blog, dated 4-6-24, the planet Uranus plays a significant role in the financial astrology arena.
Uranus “rules” the sign of Aquarius, which is the 11th house of the zodiac, one of the financially focused houses. This planet is known as the “Great Disruptor” representing sudden, unexpected events, and radical change. Some of the main traits and energies (including financial) attributed to Uranus include; high intelligence, imagination, knowledge, and futuristic technology.
Uranus will enter the sign of Gemini on July 7, 2025, where it will remain for about 7 years, but will move back into the sign of Taurus briefly, during another retrograde period, on November 7 of this year, lasting through February 3, 2026. This will likely coincide with another market rally, before potentially giving way to negative economic conditions. Gemini, similarly, represents advanced thinking/learning, communications, and high-tech, as well as transportation, though this air sign can be indecisive and flighty, resulting in market volatility.
Previous transitions of Uranus in Gemini coincided with World War II, the American Civil War, and the American Revolution, which unfortunately aligns with the current global threats. On this occasion, there are again several global conflict environments, including within the United States, which affects world markets more than ever. There is also a Mars square Uranus transit upon us through this weekend, signifying further risk of aggressive actions and military conflict. As of the close today, the S&P 500 sits at 6,045, after a large rally since the April 8 lows. The rally could be in jeopardy for the time being.
The financial alignment with Aquarius (11th house), also an air sign, is associated with free thinking, futuristic technology, and now digital money. Uranus in Gemini, combined with Pluto in Aquarius (since November, and lasting 20 years) suggests the continued advancement in sectors including AI, robotics, quantum computing, and a new sub-sector called air mobility.
As we have discussed in the past, the themes of many transits and aspects tend to repeat themselves, and the energies can be felt for some time before and after the actual date of the event. As we also noted in our 7-20-24 blog, Venus and Mercury are associated more with swing-trading than longer-term investing, as they quickly move through signs. Venus will enter the sign of Gemini on July 4, just a few days before Uranus does the same. Another Mercury retrograde period (July 17 – August 10) will then occur about 10 days after Uranus enters Gemini, when Mercury will be positioned in the sign of Leo. This may derail any July rally, as the history of the retrograde is not favorable for markets, usually resulting in high volatility.
Jupiter just moved out of the sign of Gemini a few days ago (June 9), and its expansive energies now suggests a strong “protect the home” theme as it has moved into Cancer. A conjunction between Jupiter and the Sun will also occur on June 24, which may bring some better fortune around that 2-3 day span.
The general belief among financial astrologers is this active sky may be very unsettled at the beginning of the Uranus/Gemini ingress, which will spill into the equities markets. As mentioned last week, sectors including technology and cryptocurrencies continue to be in the spotlight as they are both Venus and Aquarian themes, and have previously been strong during this transit, including Ethereum, which appears to have just begun another strong run. Look for a potential “breakout,” should current technical resistance lines be breached.
